images from the ignored landscape

Although we think of ourselves as being above the creatures of the wilderness, we are still very much a part of the same primitive world. We can construct the largest, most complex, and most durable things. Yet they too are affected by the forces that transform everything. Our constructions are reflections of the most advanced minds in the world. The perfectly straight lines and orderly layouts suggest ascention from nature's supple curves and rhythmic chaos, yet their nuances betray the common origin of all design.

A bizarre surreal landscape appears when human made constructions are built with function only in mind, neither artificial nor purely natural.

Many of these photographs are an exploration of the artifacts left behind by the most adept species to ever appear on earth. Others simply oogle at a landscape tolerated but rarely pondered.

"The sort of architectural spaces we inhabit are enormously important- they are powerful. If every member of the human race where to vanish, our successors from another planet could reconstitute the psychology of the people on this planet from its architecture" -- J.G. Ballard
