Gorlitz, Germany.
During the communist rule of the former
East Germany, many of the older downtown
areas were neglected as they were
reminders of the bad old capitalist
past. City life was shifted to new
high rise residential areas outside of
the old town core while facades like
this were left to decay. Since
reunification the old town cores are
being revitialized and scenes like this
are likely to soon receive a fresh coat
of paint.
